SA Covid-19 cases surpass 500 000 mark with over 8 000 fatalities

SA covid-19 cases have surpassed 500 000 cases in just 7 months.
This was confirmed by the Health Minister on Saturday night, August 1st who also said they have successfully managed to complete over 3million tests nation wide.
“As of Today the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases is 503 290, the total number of deaths is 8153 and the total number of recoveries is 342 461.”
Minister said that of the 8 000 deaths recorded, the Western Cape has recorded most deaths at 3 074 followed by Gauteng with 2 075 and more recoveries than the Western Cape.

The Western Cape recorded 80 750 recoveries while Gauteng recorded 126 784.
“The number of recoveries currently stands at 342 461 which translates to a recovery rate of 68%” said the Minister.
Public healthcare facilities still accounts for most testings sitting at 52%.
