Health ministry confirms 17 421 new Covid-19 cases

Health ministry has recorded over 17 000 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This takes the total number of confirmed cases to 1 231 597.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize also said the number fatalities related to Covid-19 continue to grow daily also as the ministry confirms that related deaths have now surpassed 33 000 mark.
“Regrettably, we report a further 339 COVID-19 related deaths: Eastern Cape 77 , Free State 19, Gauteng 28, Kwa-Zulu Natal 71, Limpopo 14, Mpumalanga 10, Northern Cape 7 and Western Cape 113” said the Minister.
This brings the total deaths to 33 163.
Recovery rate now stands at 78,4%.
