Police confirm an arrest of six suspects who were involved in a business robbery and carjacking at Gamaria village near Marapyane.

The incident is said to have occurred on Saturday at around 07:30 when a Pakistani man was approached by men at gunpoint who demanded that he hands over his brother’s Isuzu bakkie keys at a shop where he was.

Seeing that the victim might resist, the suspects then fired warning gunshots before they fled the scene with a Toyota Quantum after forcefully taking the bakkie.

All six suspects between the ages of 31 and 39 were later captured after a joined chase by the police and car tracking company.

They were later on joined by the Gauteng police high way patrollers who managed to corner and capture the suspects at Hammanskraal.

“The bakkie was recovered along with cellphones that were in the bakkie and the police also found two unlicensed firearms and ammunitions”

Other items that were also forcefully taken from the customers and an undisclosed amount of money taken from the bakery driver were also recovered.

The suspects are said to all be from Mamelodi and in police custody. They will appear at Mbibana Magistrates court at date to be soon confirmed.
