Police arrest gang allegedly involved in various robberies and housebreakings in Mmametlhake

SAPS Provincial Police Commissioner in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has congratulated members in the blue uniform for the arrest of seven suspects alleged to be a gang of people terrorising members in the community of Mmametlhake in Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality in the outskirts of Hammanskraal.
It is said according to Police Spokesperson in the Province Brigadier Selvy Mohlala that the gang led by a 45 years old man had been allegedly involved in various housebreakings and local business robberies.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects, aged between 28 and 48 used to target schools and foreign nationals’ businesses.”
“A number of suspected stolen property that include five different types of household electrical appliances, three music systems, seven laptops, grinders and eight live ammunition in addition to four pieces of the local security company’s uniform of which the kingpin is believed to have been previously employed at.”



Brigadier Mohlala added that the suspected stolen items amounted to approximately R 150 000.
“Suspects will be facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property charge, possession of ammunition and more charges might be added as a carcass of a hyena was also found in the house” he concluded.
They were arrested on Wednesday, 17 August.
