South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has responded to the call made by President Ramaphosa for social gatherings to not be more than 100 to avoid possible Covid-19 infections.

The agency said that their more than 3.6 million elderly social grant recipients and over one million people living with disabilities will be paid on March 30 and 31, a few days earlier than the rest of the recipients.

Other beneficiaries will get paid from April 3rd. This is also an attempt to avoid over crowding at retail stores and pay points nation wide.

“Beneficiaries withdrawing their money at Post Office will be provided with hand sanitizers.”

“Sassa will also ensure that number of people being serviced any time does not exceed national set number of 100 people.”

They also added that additional dispensers will be made available to avoid over crowding and to also make sure that the process is as short as possible.
