Mpumalanga Department of Education say they are rather disappointed of the shutdown that occurred in Nokaneng Circuit on Monday.

Educators in the circuit went on a picketing at the offices to raise a concern about the alleged corruption, nepotism and fraudulent activities by the circuit manager Victoria Moagi.

Spokesperson in the Department Mr Jasper Zwane said that the department was not aware of the alleged activities and complaints raised by the union, they only learned about the allegations recently.

As a result the District Director has sent a delegation to engage with the union (Sadtu) representatives to resolve the matter.

He added they are trying everything in their power to avoid further planned shutdown.

Sadtu in the area have told one of our colleagues from another publication that they have decided to temporarily suspend the planned shutdown on Thursday to afford the representatives from the district time to respond and engage with them.
