Former ATM member and EFF MP Mzwanele Manyi has been demoted from being uMkhonto weSizwe Party Chief Whip in the National Assembly to an ordinary MP.

The announcement was made public Tuesday where a supposed WhatsApp communication from the political party to Manyi was circulated. In the said message he was told about his demotion effective immediately to make way for a fellow MP Colleen Makhubela.

“I trust this message finds you well.”

“I am writing to formally inform you that, with immediate effect, you are hereby relived of your duties as the Chief Whip of the MK Party in the National Assembly. The decision was made with careful consideration and in the interest of advancing the collective goals and objectives of the party.”

The party further went to thank him for his service.

Speculation from various political analysts are of the view that the reason for this move by the party is because of the alleged fight between Manyi and the party Deputy President Dr John Hlophe that have been going on behind doors and also his failure to protect them in parliament.

Manyi dismissed the claims on several occasions when asked by the media saying there are no fights between him and the party Deputy President.
