Police have confirmed an arrest of a Hammanskraal man who was seen in mini video clip saying they are enjoying themselves in Hammanskraal, Corona Virus doesn’t apply to them.

Police Spokesperson Mathapelo Peters said to another media house that the suspect was arrested because what he did is an offence under lockdown regulations, that could see him spending six months in jail or facing a fine to be determined by the magistrate.

“The suspect and a group of people were returning from a funeral and gathered at Temba square for what is commonly referred to as “After tears.” It was at that illegal gathering of more than 100 people where public consumption of liquor was taking place that the suspect allegedly captured himself on a video which went viral on social media, where he was seen and heard contravening the COVID-19 regulations,” Peters said.

The suspect adds to a number of 55 people who were arrested on the first day of national lockdown who were found to have violated regulations of the lockdown.
