If there is anyone who still doubts that white privilege exists, the recent developments happening at the Democratic Alliances (DA) can be a perfect example. Also not forgetting the book which has been gaining more and more recognition recently “All animals are equal but some are more equal than the other”.
The party has once again gotten themselves under a spotlight for wrong reasons after suspending their Western Cape Provincial leader and Public Works and Transport MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela following revelations that he lied about his tertiary qualifications.
It was indeed confirmed that Madikizela did lie about his qualifications, Bcom degree in human resources from Unisa whereas he did not finish.
This led to numerous fellow party members calling for his suspension.
A call which was not carried to the party’s Chief Whip Natasha Mazzone whom it was also discovered that she lied about having legal qualifications whereas she also did not finish her studies and the only she has is a matric certificate.
Good party member Brett Hereon also brought the matter to light on social media asking why was Mazzone’s Wikipedia bio edited now that Madikizela was suspended for lying about his qualifications. Mazzone’s Wikipedia bio had said that she is an advocate and it has also been claimed in the past that she was a legal expert.
Numerous media reports also claimed that Mazzone had legal qualifications prior to being elected as the deputy federal council chairperson.
Lack of action similar to that of Madikizela towards Mazzone got social media users calling the DA racists whose aim is just to promote white privilege.
