Attorney sentenced for defrauding community members in Brits, North West

The community in Brits, North West has finally got justice following a successful sentencing of an attorney who defrauded them of their money.

Lieutenant Colonel Tinyiko Mathebula said that the 50 years old Louis Lourens was hired by a community who had an interest in purchasing properties and approached him for his services.

They then deposited R 2million into his Trust Fund account in 2016, but ended up using the money for his personal use.

He was found guilty by the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Tshwane on Thursday, 07th September and was sentenced to 5 years direct imprisonment for theft.

He was found guilty of theft and sentenced to five years behind bars. He has since been struck off the roll by the Legal Practice Council of South Africa.
