7 months pregnant woman hangs herself at the hospital in Vereeneging

The Gauteng Department of Health says they are saddened by the passing of a 25 years old pregnant woman who committed suicide at Kopanong District Hospital in Vereeneging.
The Department said in a statement that the said 29 weeks pregnant young woman was brought to the facility noticed by her mother about the abnormalities she noticed on her.
She was prescribed sedation and restraints by the doctor upon admission and further diagnosis on the same day, 08th September after the mother gave the background story of why she brought her to the facility.
“During the early hours of Saturday morning, on 09th September while the nurses were doing their rounds, they noticed that the patient was not on her bed. Upon looking for her, they made a gruesome discovery and found the hanging in the bathroom with her head scarf” read the statement.
The Department said the matter is now in the hands of the South African Police Services.
This is while they also conduct internal investigations as they regard this as Patient Safety case.
