441 years behind bars for a serial rapist who was linked to several incidents of rape, robbery and kidnapping.

Presiding over the case, Judge Mathebe Phatshoane said to the convicted Ndumisl Giyani that he is a danger to the society and deserves to be put away forever.

Giyani had been terrorising communities of Kimberley, Galeshewe and Kagisho from 2014 until 2018 according to police up until he was linked to another incident in 2018 and was later arrested in January 2019.

He was found guilty on 11 November 2019 in the Kimberley High Court on 14 counts of rape, 12 counts of robbery with aggravated circumstances, 2 counts of attempted robbery with aggravated circumstances and 6 counts of kidnapping.

He was served with;

-Three life sentences for 3 charges of rape;

-19 years imprisonment each for 11 charges of rape;

-15 years imprisonment each for 12 charges of robbery with aggravated circumstances;

-14 years for 1 charge of attempted robbery with aggravated circumstances and

-5 years imprisonment each for 6 counts of Kidnapping. The sentences will run concurrently with the 3 life sentences.
