Case against mother who sold her daughter and boyfriend’s niece to two foreign nationals postponed

A case against a 42 years old mother who sold her teenage daughter and boyfriend’s niece to two foreign nationals has been postponed to June 11 for formal bail application.

It is alleged that the said woman sold her 13 years old daughter and the 16 years old boyfriend’s niece back in February 2019 at the time when they were 11 and 14 years old respectively to two Bangladesh nationals for sexual exploitation.

The 34 years old Tanvir Rahman and Mohammed Raju 36 years old who were both working at a local shop were allegedly paying the mother and the boyfriend so they can satisfy their drug and alcohol addiction.

NPA Spokesperson in the region Anelisa Ngcakani said the cruel ordeal ended on March 2021 when the matter was finally reported to the police.

“This allegedly surfaced when the 13 years old girl who has a mental condition, asked her friends to accompany her to a man she would have sex with in exchange for money.”

“She promised to buy sweets for them in return once the man gives her the money” said Ngcakani.

Further investigations on the matter revealed that the mother would receive R 400 from the said paedophiles and would use the money to buy drugs and alcohol for both her boyfriend had herself.

“The mother has been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor while while the two Bangladeshis, Rahman and Mohammed were charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and rape.”

She made the appearance at the Keiskammahoek Magistrate’s Court.
