Madikwe Magistrates Court has handed down a 31 years imprisonment for a 26 years old who raped his 27 years old ex girlfriend.
The court heard that Keamogetswe Aphistos Mogari called the 27 years old victim saying he wants to see her as he was outside her house on January 20, 2022 around 11:00am.
The victim told the court she refused but Mogari forced entry into yard and overpowered the victim by dragging her I to the back room where he assaulted and raped her.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh said the victim later on managed to escape to the house where she locked herself inside the house to call her father for help.
“Mogari broke down two doors and attacked the victim inside the house. She was stabbed numerous times with a knife and robbed of her cellular phone, laptop and a cap.”
“Neighbours gathered close after hearing her cries for help and she was taken to a local clinic for medical attention.”
Handing down the judgement, Mogari was sentenced to 10 years for rape, 6 years for housebreaking with the intent to murder/attempted murder and 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, welcomed two sentences handed down to two accused in the Bojanala District (Rustenburg) this week.
