Suspect arrested trying to coerce a Dept of Labour employee to commit crime

Court appearance today of a 39 years old suspect who tried to entice a Department of Labour and Employment employee into committing fraud and corruption in Port Retief Mpumalanga.

Hawks Spokesperson in the area Captain Dineo Sekgotedi said that they received a tipoff about the suspect who approached the said employee about application that needed to be processed for payment and they could make money if the employee processes the said documents.

“The matter was reported to the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation and an undercover operation was conducted. During execution, the suspect was found in possession of (05) five claims and payment sheets which were already forwarded to the complainant by the suspect.”

Captain Sekgotedi added that the suspect was arrested and is due to make an appearance at Piet Retief Magistrate Court today.
