Court appearance of a suspect allegedly involved in a failed CIT hesit in Mpumalanga

Court appearance today of a 31 years old man who was arrested by the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation in Mpumalanga on Thursday April 29 following a failed Cash-In Transit (CIT) hesit.
The incident is said to have occurred on April 1st where a G4S armoured vehicle was traveling from Dwarsloop to Thulamahashe escorted by the police when it was rammed by a Mercedes Benz accompanied by a silver Subaru.
A shootout then ensued between the said suspects and police where the suspects ended up fleeing the scene abandoning their getaway vehicles and hijacked two other vehicles along the way.
This is according to Police Spokesperson Captain Dineo Sekgotodi who also said that a police officer was wounded during a shootout and taken for medical treatment while the said two vehicles used to commit the crime were investigated.
“A preliminary investigation by the Hawks Serious Organised Crime team revealed that the Subaru was stolen in Brooklyn in December 2020 and the Mercedes Benz was stolen in Bushbuckridge in February 2021.”
The suspect will be appearing Mpumalanga High Court in Brooklyn today and Mhala Magistrate Court on Wednesday as he is linked to other hijacking crimes committed in July 2017.
