Mother and son added to R 14.7million Eskom fraud case

A case against former Eskom employee has been postponed to May 5th pending further investigations following more arrests of mother and son who are also allegedly involved.
The 42 years old Thandeka Nkosi was joined a the 71 and 46 years old mother and son Rabela Sara Jones and Godfrey Jason Jones at the Hendrina Magistrates Court.
Hawks Spokesperson in Mpumalanga Captain Dineo Sekgotodi said that Eskom issued a tender for the supply of pumps at Arnot Power Station where Nkosi was appointed by the utility as a Senior Buyer.
A company by the name of Engel Frost Investment was awarded with the tender assisted by Nkosi.
“The company submitted documents which were fraudulent. Furthermore, Nkosi misled the financial section of Eskom to approve an upfront payment of R14 million to Engel Frost Investment, while in true fact it was false.”
“Eskom paid R14 million rand to the company but it did not deliver the pumps instead they disappeared. An intensive investigation was conducted by Eskom Forensic Investigators concerning money which was stolen. After they uncovered the shenanigans, the fraud a case was opened and referred to the Middelburg based Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for further exploration.”
Sekgotodi added preliminary investigations revealed that Nkosi allegedly colluded with the said mother and two sons including the other one who is on the run. It is said that the two sons were also appointed as signatories in the company.
Nkosi and the son were each granted R 100 000 bail while the mother was granted R 30 000 bail owing to her age and chronic illness.
As the case got postponed to May 5th, a warrant of arrest was also issued against the other accused son.
