As South Africa is set to prepare itself for one of the most busiest religious holidays, the presidency and health department has emphasized that people shouldn’t forget that Covid-19 is still well within us.

This saw the national coronavirus command council (NCCC) taking into consideration proposals on how to manage the spread of the coronavirus over the Easter holidays.

This was confirmed by the acting minister in the presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni during a media briefing.

Although SA has been seeing a drop in daily Covid-19 infection cases, extra-precautionary still needs to be taken into consideration as lives continue to be lost to the deadly virus daily. Department of health have been recording cases below 2000 for the past two weeks.

“I can’t pre-empt the advice and the decisions of the NCCC that will then be recommended to cabinet.”

“There are plans on the table that are being considered and when the decisions have been made, we all know as South Africans, the president will convene a ‘family meeting’ and communicate those decisions,” added Minister Ntshavheni.

Minister Ntshavheni however said that she cannot publicly discuss the advice provided either by the ministerial advisory committee or the Nat-joint to the NCCC. Even though not much was said it is alleged by several unconfirmed reports that the President could declare a level 2 national lockdown in this Easter holidays.
