30 years old son arrested for the alleged murder of 53 years old mother

Police confirm an arrest of 30 years old suspect in the alleged murder of his 53 years old mother after being on he run almost two months.

It is said according to Colonel Thembeka Mbhele that the 53 years old Ncamisile Zondi was found dead and staffed inside a toilet by the community after having not being from December 23rd 2020 up until the community reported her missing six days later.

They first started by searching inside her yard where they noticed sand that dug around an already functioning toilet.

Upon their investigation on the suspicious developments on the toilet, they removed the toilet walls as they dug deep down. It was only then when they noticed a piece of clothing including some bedding items followed by an usual smell.

That is when they notified the police about the matter.

Police members from Marianhill responded to the scene and called the Search and Rescue Team. SAPS and Metro Search and Rescue teams responded and recovered the body of the deceased. The body was still recognisable. The clothing items had some visible blood stains.

This is according to Colonel Thembeka Mbhele who also said that they forced entry into the deceased house to investigate the scene, they discovered that the house was still in order except for the bed.

“According to the neighbours, they stated that the deceased was living with her long lost son who only returned about six months before the deceased died. Furthermore it was discovered that the deceased had received her stokvel payouts. She was supposed to visit her home as she was originally from Bulwer. Her son left home before Christmas and he informed the neighbours that he was going to the camp at EBuhleni in Inanda” said Colonel Mbhele.

He was arrested this past Saturday and made his first court appearance on Tuesday.
