Commission of Inquiry into State Capture’s Chairperson Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo (DCJ) has confirmed that President of the country Matamela Ramaphosa and the governing party ANC will be giving testimony in 2021 just before the commission concludes.

DCJ Zondo said these during a press briefing on the update of the commission since it started in 2018 and Covid-19 lockdown affected their progress.

“I will hear evidence relating to parliamentary oversight during that first week of February. At some stage, before we finish the hearing of oral evidence of the commission, I will also hear evidence from President Ramaphosa and I will hear evidence from the ANC. Those dates have not been determined” said DCJ Zondo.

The commission was forced to suspend its sittings for three months.

Zondo said he will also approach the high court to apply for a further three months extension until June as the national lockdown had hampered the commission’s ability to conclude oral evidence.
