Police confiscate tobacco products from a courier company destined for a customer

Police commend courier company for reporting a customer who had alcohol and tobacco products transported through their services.

Police say they received an alert from the said company about a suspicious package at their warehouse they had received.

Upon arrival SAPS members said they found liquid tobacco products with a street value of R360 000-00.

“It is alleged that on Thursday, July 2020 at about 14:00, the company received a package from Cape Town. It is further alleged that a similar package was received for the same person earlier in the week and the suspicious behavior of the recipient caught the attention of the company.”

“When another package arrived yesterday for the same person, police were roped in to investigate. The package was opened and 30 boxes each containing 120 packets of various flavours of oka pipe liquid tobacco were confiscated. The total street value is R180 000-00” said police official.

The confiscation follows an address by the president on Sunday where announced a banning of alcohol sale and distribution for the second time during this lockdown.
