As the country awaits cabinet announcement by the President, the Government of National Unity (GNU) continues to be filed with pulls and pushes as parties, with mainly ANC and the DA allegedly not having agreements on who should take which ministry.

Earlier today, Monday, a letter was leaked letter supposedly coming from the DA to the President, Ramaphosa where the party made huge demands on cabinet positions.

The party demands that they be given 11 ministry positions and full control over them.

“The cabinet positions the DA holds should rightly include the post of Deputy President, as is standard practice in similar governments around the world.”

“We can only agree to give up that post if it is replaced with both a Minister in the Presidency, who is also designated as the Leader of Government Business and participates fully in the policy development and monitoring responsibilities of the Presidency, and a Deputy Minister of Finance, who participates fully in the development of the budget.”
