The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has finally heeded to the call made by South African citizens who have been calling for employers to employ more SA citizens than foreign nationals.

Following the red berets statement earlier this year, the party’s President Julius Malema said that the party have decided that they will go to various businesses especially in hospitality to check their employment ratio and also check if no labour laws are violated.

On the issue of more foreign nationals being employed in hospitality compared to SA citizens, Malema told his supporters not to fight people from outside the country, but to focus their anger on the employers.

The party released a statement on their social media account where they said that Malema is set to visit Kreme restaurant in Mall of Africa in Midrand today (Wednesday) morning.

It is alleged that the restaurant employs 100% foreign nationals.

Malema also said these words in video clip circulated on social media where he said he wants to understand why the restaurant decided to take route of excluding South Africans and hire foreign nationals only.

This is a big change of tune from the leader and the organisation themselves who previously said that they will not be involved in the call to have SA citizens prioritized in employment opportunities compared to foreign nationals because they also need jobs like everyone else.

Malema was also quoted saying there is no such thing as illegal immigrant in Africa as long as you are African.

“If the gates are not going to be open for SADC. Fellow SADC people, please, find a creative way. This is your home. Your families are here. There is no way anyone is going to close you out here,” he said previously.
