It is first court appearance today of a 60 years old man who killed his 6 years old stepdaughter in Soshanguve earlier this week.

It is said that the man had an argument with his girlfriend (22), mother of the child, before the incident took place where he then dumped the lifeless body of the 6 years old in river at Block GG after killing her.

The couple had apparently been living together in Block PP2, with the child also, before the incident happened for a while.

The mother was not home at the time when the child was taken. She was then reported missing at the police station by the mother where police made thorough investigations up until they established that the stepfather had a hand in the disappearance of the child a day later, on Monday.

The man then led the officials to the crime scene where he dumped the lifeless body after he was apprehended by the police.

Police say at the time of discovering the corpse, they were not sure how the child could’ve been killed but it appeared as if she was strangled. They are still waiting for an official postmortem.

Gauteng police spokesperson Mathapelo Peters said that upon taking the perpetrator’s information, they discovered that he is an ex-convict who had previously spent 25 years behind bars for the murder of his ex-wife.
