Cash-In-Transit suspect appears in court

A 39 years old Cash-In-Transit heist suspect is set to make his second court appearance today at Kabokweni Magistrates Court following his arrest on May 5th.
Hawks Spokesperson Captain Dineo Sekgotodi said that Zakhele Mnisi was allegedly one of the seven men who robbed armoured vehicle with an undisclosed amount of money on the same day driving from Mkhulu to Hazyview.
The incident is said to have occurred at around 16:10 when the said seven suspects started by first shooting the front right tyre of the vehicle and later on resulted in the driver being shot on the hand as they continued shooting before robbing the driver and the passenger of their firearms.
“The suspects bombed the AV and an undisclosed amount of money was taken. A helicopter of Fidelity which was escorting one of their AV arrived on the scene and sported the vehicles which were used by the suspects and they followed them.”
“They marked a GD 6 Toyota Hilux whereby they saw one suspect jumping out of the vehicle in an attempt to flee, they immediately arrested him.”
“During the high speed chase three vehicles Toyota Hilux, Haval and VW Tiquan were found abandoned. A preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that all three vehicles were robbed from their owners who were standing because of road blockage during the robbery” said Captain Sekgotodi.
Mnisi made his first appearance in court on May 8th and it was postponed to today for formal bail application.
