A police sergeant murder suspect is currently in hospital under heavy police guard while they are waiting for him to recover.

Warrant Officer Virginia Thandi Tshabalala says the 40 years old man is accused being involved in the killing of an off-duty officer earlier this year in February at his home in Piet Retief.

The officer managed to contact his friend about the shooting to come to his rescue. Fortunate enough he was still alive and was rushed to the nearby Medi-Clinic but he did not make it.

“Three suspects including the late sergeants wife were later arrested by Secunda Serious Organised Crime Investigation. Through further investigation it was detected that the late sergeant’s wife was in contact with a man called Mandisa Penuel Ngomane from Ermelo and it was also discovered that Ngomane’s motor vehicle was used when the police sergeant was shot.”

The suspect, Mandisa Ngomane was then traced and found at Ermelo Hospital as he was admitted with gun shot wounds. He was arrested and had his phone seized.
