The Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court, postponed a fraud case against a former South African National Defence Force (SANDF) employee, Khakhathi Edward Nyakhulalini (59), to 11 July 2022.

It is alleged according to NPA Spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana that Nyakhulalini together with his two of his accomplice 40 years old Tshilidzi Stemen Tshishonga and 37 years Fulufhelo Mudau fraudulently benefited from SANDF Group Life Insurance scheme where Nyakhulalini was working as an administrator.

Mahanjana alleges that the trio acted in common purpose and claimed a total amount of R205 000.00 from the insurance scheme.

They allegedly pretended to be dependents of the two SANDF employees who had passed on and they claimed to be the nominated executors of the estate.

“This syndicate was discovered when the actual family members of the deceased, went to SANDF to claim for the estate and were informed that the claim has already been paid out.”

“After internal investigations were conducted, they pointed out Nyakhulalini as a perpetrator, and the SANDF reported the matter to the Police. Nyakhulalini was arrested on 02 October 2015 and was released on R 2000 bail” said Mahanjana.

Tshishonga and Mudau had previously pleaded guilty to the same charge, are currently serving their sentences.
