52 years old Daniel Baatlhodi was sentenced to 25 years behind bars at Kuruman Regional Court on two counts of rape to the same victim in 2015 and 2019.
It is said according to the police that Baatlhodi had called the 13 years old victim into his house as she was playing on the streets with her friends.
“He forced the victim to his bedroom and started to rape her at Tsineng village outside Kuruman. Thereafter, threatened to harm her if she could speak about the matter. The matter was reported to the police and he was immediately arrested. On 19 September 2015 he was released on bail.”
The police also added that the accused who is the neighbour of the victim called her again into her house to bring his charger and then tied her up with a bandage and raped her.
He was arrested on the same day and remained in custody until he was sentenced on Monday.
