Boyfriend kills girlfriend after assaulting him

A 45 years old man is set to make court appearance today at Nebo Magistrates Court for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death.

It is said according to Police Spokesperson in the province Lt-Col Malesela Ledwaba that the said suspect made his way to the local tarven to find his girlfriend, Zintle Mokoena who had just been released on bail on Friday following a short court appearance.

Ledwaba said that the couple had an altercation at the man’s house and she stabbed him with a sharp object in Monsterloos village outside Sekhukhune.

Mokoena was arrested on Thursday.

Upon hearing about her release, it is believed that he was out for revenge.

“She was arrested on Thursday and appeared before the Nebo magistrate’s court on Friday, where she was released on free bail. The victim thereafter went to the local tavern and her boyfriend whom she had assaulted, arrived at the tavern at about 7.45pm and dragged her to her house which is next to the tavern. Upon arrival, he allegedly stabbed her several times, killing her instantly,” said Ledwaba.

He was arrested on the scene after the police were alerted. A case of murder has been opened against him.
