The Lichtenburg Magistrates Court has postponed the case against a senior NPA prosecutor to 17 August 2021 for further investigations.

The 45 years old accused based in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in the North West, is charged with statutory rape, sexual exploitation of children, sexual display or causing display of pornography, sexual grooming of children and sexual assault.

This is according to NPA Spokesperson in the area Henry Mamothame who also said that it is alleged that the victim was 15 years of age in 2019 when these offences were committed.

“The state requested the court for a postponement to allow further investigations by the police and to afford the new prosecutor time to thoroughly study the docket.”

“The state has also appointed a prosecutor from another division to prosecute on this case, to avert any perceptions of bias” said Mamothame.

The accused will remain suspended from duty and his bail of R10 000 is extended until his next court appearance.
