While Department of Correctional Services works hard on rehabilitating convicts and ensuring that they don’t go back to the life of crimes upon their release, some somehow find themselves going back to the same lifestyles.

A 53 years old Ntatabuta Maleke is one the ex-convicts who relapsed and found himself committing the same crime again, of killing women.

Police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh said that they found out during court appearance at Ganyesa Magistrates Court that Maleke was first arrested and convicted in 2003 for the murder of his girlfriend by that time in December and he was found guilty on charges of culpable homicide.

He was sentenced to 15 years to which 3 were suspended for 5 years on a condition that he does not commit a similar crime.

He was arrested earlier this month on April 5th, for the murder of his 43 years old girlfriend Angelina Maruping who was allegedly found lying on the floor covered with a blanket, half brick with blood stains next to the none-responsive body of Maruping.

She was certified dead on the scene by paramedics. Maleke remains in police custody and to due appear again on April 25th, 2024.
