A murder case allegedly involving an ANC Member of Parliament is yet to drag on to the new year following the arrest of the accused 34 years old Sibusiso Kula on January 20th, 2023 but was later on released on R 50 000 bail with strict conditions.
Kula’s wife, Jennifer Mohlomi, was found murdered on 27 November 2022, in what seemed like a robbery. She was found with a stab wound on her back but the object that was used for her alleged murder is yet to be recovered. The matter was reported by the medical facility where she was allegedly transported by the accused to receive medical attention.
Kula told the police that he was not home and nowhere near the scene at the time of the crime being committed.
However, following thorough investigations by the police, he was linked to the alleged murder and was arrested on 20 January 2023, and charged with murder.
The matter was transferred to the High Court of South Africa: North West Division, in Klerksdorp for pretrial conferencing, on 29 January 2024. The state’s senior state Adv, Adv Benny Kalakgosi, provided Kula’s defence attorney with an indictment in order for them to prepare for pretrial where a trial date will be decided. Investigations have been completed and the state is ready to proceed with trial.
He was ordered to surrender his passports, report twice a day at the nearest police station, provides the investigating officer with his work itinerary, report to the Investigating Officer if he must move outside his residential jurisdiction, and have no direct or indirect contact with his children.
