A 26 years old man is set to make his first appearance at Parys Magistrates Court on Monday following an alleged murder of his 14 years old girlfriend.
The boyfriend is said to be the number one suspect on this murder of Edwina Bolosha.
Police say the deceased was allegedly last seen by her uncle on October 10 saying she will be sleeping over at a friend’s house.
She was only reported missing five days later by the uncle.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was last seen with her boyfriend. Information was followed and Edwinah’s body was discovered in an open veld covered in a huge pile of rocks, about 1km away from her home.”
“A case of murder was registered and the boyfriend was arrested. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.”
This is according to Free State Police Spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele who also added that the uncle’s excuse for not reporting earlier was because the deceased had a tendency of going AWOL but would later come back home.
Provincial Commissioner of Free State, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane urged parents to not take such cases for granted especially for a girl child even if they do come back home eventually.
Guardians and parents should be concerned if they don’t know their child’s whereabouts in 24 hours.
She said most girls who are reported missing they end up being found dead in most cases.
