Warrant of arrest has been issued against Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema and his co-accused for failure to appear in court on charges that were made against him for allegedly discharging a rifle in public during the party’s 5th anniversary celebration.

The warrant was issued by the East London Magistrates Court earlier today.

The incident happened in 2018 where Mr Malema had argued that the in question that was used was a toy gun and it posed no threat to people attending the celebration nor anyone nearby.

The party’s national spokesperson Vuyani Pambo said the warrant of arrest in question is just a formality when one does not attend court and will not be executed until the next court date.

He said it is nothing as big as media houses make it.
