Following a month long after being crowned Wafcon champions, Banyana Banyana has finally received what is rightfully theirs as previously promised.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed that all 23 Banyana Banyana players have been paid their bonuses for winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco last month.
The announcement was made earlier tonight in a press conference attended by Safa’s senior officials and players.
SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan said during the press that the promise made to the ladies was that the money would be paid to them within 30 days after being crowned champions.
SAFA’s finance manager Gift Sekonde confirmed that payments were done on Friday morning, adding that the Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa’s funding pledge would be an addition to the payment made by the Association.
