Victims die during court appearance

A murder case against the 59 years old man has been postponed to December 13th, 2023 for further investigations following his R 5000 release on bail.
Jacobus (Japie) Dawid Claassens reported and handed himself over to the police on October 31st shortly after allegedly shooting two people who were at his house. It is not yet known to us as to whether the two victims were known to the Classens or not.
He was accompanied by the police to the crime scene, upon their arrival, they found two victims critical and they were rushed to Upington, for medical assistance. The accused was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder.
It was only discovered during his appearance in Springbok District Court that the two victims had passed on and the charges were changed to two counts of murder.
