Victims between 19 and 24 years rescued from a brothel used for sex trafficking in Sandton

An Intelligence operation driven the Hawks saw three victims aged between 19 and 24 being rescued at a house in Sandton which was used as a brothel where the said victims were kidnapped ad used as prostitutes.
The said operation was a multi-disciplinary team comprising of Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Northern Cape and Gauteng, Crime Intelligence Northern Cape, Local Criminal Record Centre Gauteng and Douglasdale South African Police Services (SAPS).
Hawks Spokesperson Col Katlego Mogale said that a 29 years old man was arrested in the process and is set to join a co-accused suspect 33 years old Emmanuel Uzoaga.
“A search was conducted in an apartment at Sandton which is reported to be used as a brothel. During the search, three victims aged between 19 and 24 were rescued. Cellphones and an undisclosed amount of money were seized.”
Col Mogale said that the victims were lured from Upington, Northern Cape to Sandton and were used for prostitution.
The said suspects are expected to appear before Upington Magistrates Court today.
