Teenage mother and boyfriend appear in court for the alleged rape and murder of 2 years old daughter

A 17 years old mother her 30 years old boyfriend are set to make an appearance at the Protea Magistrate’s Court in Soweto on today on charges of rape and murder.

Police Spokesperson Mmathapelo Peters say this is in connection with the death of the 2 years old little girl who died in hospital after suffering from severe wounds allegedly caused by the boyfriend who allegedly raped her.

Reports by the police allege that the mother of the deceased toddler had left the 2 years old daughter in the care of her boyfriend for about two hours.

On her return around 20h30, she allegedly found the boyfriend not around and the child was asleep. She went to sleep not wanting to disturb the child. She then woke up in the middle of the night to check on the child only to find the child with serious injuries to her face. 

“The child was taken to Baragwanath Hospital for medical check up. The outcome of the medical examination found that the child had been raped and that is when the doctor called the police” said Peters.

The incident is said to have occurred on November 15th.
