Two men sentenced for raping former schoolmate

Emalahleni Regional Court in Mpumalanga has handed down two each life imprisonment for now two convicts for the rape of a former primary schoolmate.
The duo aged 26 and 27, Siphosethu Maseko and Thabiso Matjie respectively, approached the victim on May 21, 2018 while she was walking at Extension 7 Park in Emalahleni through the park.
They approached her from behind and blindfolded her with the scarf she was wearing, and started demanding money and a cellphone. In the absence of the latter items, they took her to the bushes where they gang-raped her.
Whilst in the process, the victim’s scarf fell below her eyes, and she was able to identify one accused whom she attended with at Primary School. Accused number two was linked by DNA.
