Tavern Owner and Assistant Arrested in Marapyane for Violating Lockdown Regulations

Mmametlhake Police confirm an arrest of 18 suspects who were found to have violated the Disaster Management Act 2020.

This happened this past long weekend during a routine patrol in Pankop Roadblock where 11 suspects were found to have exceeded the permitted loading capacity and also transporting commuters that are deemed essential workers.

It was not long until the members received a tipoff of a tavern selling alcohol in Phake, violating the Disaster Management Act.

Two females aged 61 and 45 were arrested for selling alcohol.

While on the other hand a tavern owner and his assistant were found transporting alcohol in Marapyane near Moepi High School around 20:30 at night.

48 crates of alcohol were confiscated, the alcohol is estimated to be worth R 30 000.
