SA surpasses 1.5million mark on Covid-19 cases

South Africa has now surpassed 1.5million mark of Covid-19 cases after recording 1 911 new cases in the last 24 hours. This takes the total number of cases to 1 500 677.

This is also as the number of fatalities nears 50 000.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize said they have recorded 151 more Covid-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours with the Eastern Cape accounting for 12, Free State 21, Gauteng 43, Kwa-Zulu Natal 40, Limpopo 1, Mpumalanga 8, North West 0, Northern Cape 0 and Western Cape 26 which brings the total to 48 859 deaths.

“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased patients.”

“Our recoveries now stand at 1 406 907, representing a recovery rate of 93,7%” said Minister Mkhize.
