Primary School clerk allegedly defrauding School of R 2.4 million

A matter against a 45 years old former primary school clerk has been postponed to January 2025. Sivenyathi Gunya from the NPA in North West said that the 45 years old Lorato Junitor Motiki is facing 436 counts of fraud which saw Lichtenburg Primary School losing over R 2.4 million in a period of 4 years.

The alleged theft and fraud occurred in between November 2019 and June 2023 where it is said that Motiki allegedly lied on several occasions when she was dispersing money from the school’s account to three different personal bank accounts allegedly belonging to her.

The funds were released under false presences of paying services providers for services which were not rendered of procurement of stationery, security, refunds, water and electricity rendered to the school.

Reports further indicated that at times during the same period, she would defraud the school by creating forms requiring authorisation and signatures for release of funds for payment by the school when in reality, none of those services were rendered to the school.

As a result of her actions, the school suffered a loss of over R2,4 million.She appeared before court following her arrest by the Hawks in the province on December 6th. She was released on R5000-00 bail.

The matter was postponed to 28 January 2025 for the Specialised Commercial Crime Court appearance.
