Police on the manhunt for people involved in the killing of a chief

39 community members from Matshepe village outside Mafikeng are set to make court appearance in a date to be set following the death of their 65 years old Chief.
The Police in the Ngaka Molema District were put on high alert following the death of Chief Gopane Phillip Motuba this past weekend on August 26th, 2023.
Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said that it is alleged that at around 04:30, two unknown men allegedly robbed and killed gained entry into the Chief’s house after gaining entry through an unlocked door.
“Subsequent to the incident, houses belonging to a male villager, suspected to be responsible for the Chief’s death, were set alight on Monday, 28 August 2023. The houses include those used for training and consultation by traditional healers”.
“In addition, two vehicles were torched while the third one was damaged. Furthermore, a local road between Mahikeng and Itsoseng was barricaded. Upon intervening, and as part of maintaining public order, Mahikeng Public Order Police (POP) arrested 39 individuals.”
In the arrested 39, it included 11 males and 28 females all aged between 22 and 55 years old.
Community members of Matshepe in Lomanyaneng later on went to the police station to demand the release of the suspects.

Anonymous tip-offs can also be communicated via MySAPS App.
