Okonkwo Nwabuike rearrested at OR Tambo International on drug charges after fleeing to his home country in 2017

Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit have confirmed an arrest of a Nigerian fugitive who have been on the run since August.

The 46 years old Okonkwo Nwabuike was first arrest in August 2017 with his 31 yes old accomplice Joshua Emeka at Blouberg street in Secunda during a search and seizure operation.

Hawks’ Captain Dineo Sekgotodi says that the suspect was found in possession of crystal math, kat and uncut rock drugs worth an estimated amount of R 300K.

They were both later on released on bail.

“Emeka continued with his court appearances while Nwabuile failed to appear in court and skipped bail. He fled his country and a warrant of arrest issued against him and he was flagged and circulated as a wanted suspect” said Captain Sekgotodi.

Nwabuike was then rearrested at OR Tambo International airport this past Thursday and appeared before Secunda Magistrates Court on Friday.

His case was postponed to January 26th for formal bail application.
