Over 17 000 Arrests Made for Lockdown Regulation Violation

Police Minister Cele adamant that no disorderly conduct or hooliganism will be allowed during this 21 days national lockdown.

Strict regulations were put in place which the President said they apply they everyone in the country to be enforced by law enforcement.

It was announced that 17 000 people had already been arrested by the end of March for violating lockdown regulations.

Cele said about 24 389 law enforcers made up of the South African Police Service (SAPS); the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), and metro police units have been deployed to enforce the regulations.

He also added by urging people to make sure that they follow all the regulations and avoid being on the wrong side of the law.

The department of health announced a total new number of 1505 confirmed cases last night, an increase of 43 new cases.

Number of related deaths also increased by 2 more, bringing the total to 9.
