Officer shot dead in Temba, Hammanskraal

Hat started as a usual patrol by a police officer and her partner in Temba, Hammanskraal, led to the death of a 33 years old officer.

It is said according to reports that the incident occurred in the early evening hours of September 12th, 2025 around 7:30 PM in the Chris Hani section, Block G, during a routine patrol.

Constable Hlongwane who was stationed at Temba SAPS crime prevention unit, started pursuing a suspicious looking white VW Polo hatchback, registration FX85MJGP.

This is as they were actively monitoring the area for criminal activity when they initiated a chase after the VW Polo refused to stop on a gravel road.Upon stopping their vehicle after a high speed chase, numerous shots were exchanged, leading to a chaotic scene.

Constable Hlangoane sustained fatal injuries in the gunfire. His colleague Constable Shokane, who was also present during the incident, suffered severe trauma and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects and have called for assistance from anyone who might information.
