North West Education Chief Director Gift Ramadie released on bail on livestock theft charges

The Delareyville Magistrates Court has granted a senior government official Gift Ramadie and his co-accused Goitsemodimo Modukanele bail R 29 000.00 and R 1000.00 respectively following their arrest on stock theft allegations.
The 50 years old Ramadie is also confirmed to be a Chief Director at the Department of Education in the North West province and Modukanele is his Shepherd.
National Prosecution Authority (NPA) spokesperson in the North West Division Henry Mamothame said that the pair were arrested on Friday February 19, 2021 when a number of 100 cattle’s and calves expected to have stolen where found in their possession.
Mamothame said that of the said livestock, a stud bull worth an estimated amount of R 120 000 and six stud Bosmara valued at an estimated amount of R 189 000 were also among them.
“From the recovered livestock, 11 cattle were positively identified by owners while others were seized by the police for further investigations to be conducted as their brand marks were tampered with” concluded Mamothame.
They are set to reappear in court on April 6th, 2021.
