Umkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) says Roads and Transports Minister Fikile Mbalula has been doing a whole lot of talking and no action with regards to rescuing the defunct railway agency.
Passenger Railway Agency of South Africa (Prasa) has seen a huge downfall more especially during the Covid-19 lockdown with many of the agency’s property being severely damaged and equipment being stolen.
The MKMVA has accused the Minister of folding his arms while the agency experiences an unjustifiable attack.
They said they will be calling for the arrest of the Minister for failing to protect the agency in their march to the African National Congress (ANC) headquarters on Monday.
“Among other issues, the march is focusing on the plight of the poor and forgotten freedom fighters, rampant corruption in the country, the demand for the arrest of apartheid killers, the arrest of transport minister for the damaged railway network, the plight of truck and taxi drivers, crime and gender-based violence,” they said.
They added that they demand that he be arrested.
The SA National Civic Organisation (Sanco) Gauteng, the Congress of SA Students (Cosas) Gauteng, and the SA National Cargo Transport and Drivers Association (SANCATDRA) are set to join the march, from Beyers Naudé Square, on Monday.
They will also march to Gauteng Premier’s office.
