As most Zimbabwean nationals leave the country for the festive season, Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba has advised people to continue adhering to Covid-19 regulations.
The border gate separating the both countries, Beitbridge, has been experiencing huge traffic flows as per usual with vehicles said to be moving approximately 10meters in an hour, according to some motorists.
MEC Ramathuba said that some of things that contribute to the traffic is because of strict Covid-19 protocols that needs to be followed.
“We are now strict in producing the 72 hour results that are needed and therefore we have also made sure that the National Health Laboratory Services is stationed there to assist those who will not necessarily be having those results, so that is taking time,” said the MEC.
She also advised travelers to plan ahead and prepare their travel documentation in time to ensure smooth processing at the border.
With high traffic volumes at the border, there has already been a report of a woman who died of heat and fatigue while in the vehicle they were travelling in.
