Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has denied tender corruption allegations and has accused opportunists of trying to tarnish his image.
This follows an article that was written by City Press alleging that they have a recording of MEC Lesufi saying “people need to be looked after.”
“Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi was recorded in a meeting he held with team in Tshwane, during which his department tenders were discussed. In the recording which City Press has heard, Lesufi told the team that as an MEC he has to make that people are satisfied at all costs” read City Press article.
Later on MEC Lesufi posted on his twitter account saying it is unfortunate that he has to proof himself innocent even when there is not proof presented against me.
“Unfortunately in a democratic society the accuser doesn’t need to proof their allegations but the accused must proof their innocence. I take my work and my commitment to serve so serious that it’s clear it’s becoming a pain to my enemies something I have no control over.”
In a statement Lesufi released he said claims made in the article that the meeting was secret is far from the truth because he took the attendees to walk-around in the said school after the meeting.
“How can we do a walk-around the school if the meeting was meant to be a secret” read part of the statement.
